Independent Arbitrator, Secomb Arbitration

Dr Matthew Secomb is an independent arbitrator working out of Secomb Arbitration (Singapore/Paris). He focuses on energy-related and construction disputes. He has been involved in arbitrations under most of the major arbitral rules, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations.

Before becoming an independent arbitrator in August 2026, Matthew was a partner at White & Case, where he practiced for more than 20 years (between Paris and Singapore). He headed the firm’s International Arbitration Group in the Asia Pacific for some eight years.

Prior to joining White & Case in 2006, Matthew was counsel to the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris.

Matthew has a B.Com. and an LL.M. from the University of  Melbourne, an LL.B. (hons) from Deakin University, and a Doctorat en droit (summa cum laude) from the Université de Fribourg (Switzerland).  He is qualified as an avocat at the Paris bar, a solicitor-advocate in England & Wales, and a barrister and solicitor in Victoria, Australia.
