— Singapore Campus —

Artificial Intelligence

Taught in English

July 8th -July 16th 2024

Assas International, Singapore Campus

As artificial intelligence (AI) gains momentum, understanding the challenges and opportunities created by AI is crucial. Numerous questions arise regarding the use of AI, which can be seen as an object of regulation by lawyers, but also as a useful tool for law enforcement. Notwithstanding the advances involved in AI, its use also raises moral and ethical issues, in addition to legal issues.

Course description

This interdisciplinary course offers a dual approach to artificial intelligence through the eyes of an economist and a lawyer.
Different questions will be addressed, such as:

  • The impact of AI on the labor market, from a macroeconomic and microeconomic perspective.
  • How AI can help legal professionals.
  • The development of predictive justice.
  • AI applications to predict law violation, judge’s decisions, law enforcement decisions.
  • Bias and ethics of AI applications to the law.
  • The numerous roles of AI in various sectors within society and their legal implications.

The objective of this course is to give an overview of the many interesting intersections between AI, economics and the law. This is an emerging, multidisciplinary and multinational area. Several practical cases will be investigated and an introduction to coding will be provided.

Testimonial

“I took part in the 2023 summer school on artificial intelligence.
It was a marvellous experience, and I really benefited from it. Exploring the impact of Articificial Intelligence from a legal and economic perspective.

Artificial intelligences are the future and thanks to this summer school I really understood their importance and all the big changes that await us.

I would like to thank Assas International for having set up this experience which will remain engraved in my memory, thank you for this opportunity, international business law is what I’m passionate about and this summer in Singapore enabled me to learn so much about artigo, with coding sessions, discussions, and an investment on the part of everyone.
I got a lot out of everyone who took part in the summer school, with points of view from all over the world and very constructive debates.

It’s a very enriching experience, the INSEAD premises are incredible and the organized visits to the city of Singapore allowed me to get to know this city, urban redevelopement authority taught me about culture and history and we also attended a hearing at the Supreme Court of Singapore, which was very interesting for me as a law student.

The Artificial intelligence Summer School 2023 in Singapore is one of the best experiences of my life, so thank you for this great organization, every participant is amazing.
It was a privilege for me to participate in this summer school”
