Varuna is a practising barrister with 17 years tenure at the Mauritian Bar. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2001 and to the Mauritian Bar in 2002 where she practised as private practitioner.
She took up employment in 2007 as an in-house lawyer with Ciel Properties Ltd (now Alteo Properties Ltd) as Head of legal and Corporate Affairs. She returned to private practice in 2009 where she practised as litigator until 2014 when she joined ENSafrica (Mtius) Ltd as Senior Associate of the Litigation Department. She was promoted to Executive in March 2016. She resumed private practice and set up her own chambers in August 2018. Varuna practises general civil and commercial law. She has a keen interest for employment, construction, property and environment law matters. She has appeared in commercial and construction arbitrations, and appears regularly before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
