Sharmini Lohadhasan

Ethics and Compliance Manager, bp Legal, Singapore
Sharmini has worked on a mixed Intellectual Property portfolio covering a variety of business streams in Asia Pacific (including China) and beyond within bp. The scope of work ranged from enforcement, advocacy, and licensing issues. In her legal role, she provided strategic advice to senior business management (including Heads of Country) on ways to mitigate and manage IP issues/risks, which could become market entry barriers.
Sharmini has also worked in bp’s London and Shangai offices. She is actively involved in various policy discussions with trade and professional associations.
At present, she has moved into an Ethics and Compliance Role within bp. She is also actively involved in the academia:
- Adjunct Lecturer- IP Law -Sorbonne – Assas International Law School Asia – 2015 – present.
- Adjunct Lecturer IP Academy (IPOS) – IPM Specialist Workshop – Managing IP Portfolio – Jan 2017
Sharmini holds the following office positions :
- Chairperson – European Chamber of Commerce (IPR Committee)-Singapore – July 2020 – present
- Chairperson of Best Practices, Governance and International Relations Committee – Asian Lubricants Manufacturers Association – 2019 – present (N.B. Additional office – Council Member – 2020.)
- Regional Chair for BP Legal’ s Diversity and Inclusion committee – 2017 – 2020.
In her spare time, she volunteers with the Riding School for physically challenged children and enjoys cooking.
