
François Mailhé
Visiting Professor of Law, University of Picardie – Jules Verne
François MAILHÉ is a professor of private law at Picardy-Jules Verne University.
Prior to attaining his full professorship (agrégation de droit privé et de sciences criminelles), he held various positions at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Cergy Paris Université as an assistant lecturer, as well as serving as an associate professor at Panthéon-Assas University. He also worked as a jurist in the arbitration department at Shearman & Sterling’s Paris office.
His research primarily focuses on international litigation and conflict of laws, culminating in a PhD dissertation titled “The Organization of the International Competition of Courts,” which examines jurisdictional theories and practices of both judges and arbitrators. This work received the Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas Prize and the Robert Dennery Prize from the Chancellery of Universities, and it was published by Economica, Paris, in 2016.
François is frequently invited to speak and teach at various universities both internationally (e.g., Doshisha University, Beijing Normal University, and the University of Luxembourg) and in France (e.g., Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, Paris 12 Créteil, and Toulouse universities). He publishes articles in both French and English.
In addition to his academic endeavors, he serves as the deputy director of the Lynxlex.com project, which aims to develop an online database for EU private international law.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Law Association, the European Association of Private International Law, Trans-Europe Expert, and the Comité Français de Droit International Privé.
