Smita Shersingh

Barrister-at-Law – Tutorials - Personal and Family Law

Smita is a Barrister-at-Law whose main practice areas cover Taxation, Commercial and Corporate Law. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2010 and to the Mauritius Bar in 2012. She holds an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Dispute Resolution and a Postgraduate Certificate in Equity and Trusts.

She is currently the General Counsel of MITCO, a Trust and Corporate Services Group providing administration and fiduciary services to corporate, institutional and private investors. Prior to joining MITCO, she was a Senior Manager in the Tax and Legal Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), advising multinationals and domestic companies on regulatory and contentious issues.

Prior to joining PwC, she was the Legal Counsel of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) where she advised extensively on domestic and international taxation and represented the MRA before the Courts and Tribunals. Before joining the MRA, she was a Senior Legal Executive in Chambers where she advised in financial services, company law, employment law and delivered in-house legal courses to corporate clients as an MQA approved trainer.
