Paris Campus: Professor Malik Laazouzi Appointed Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques

We are delighted to announce that Professor Malik Laazouzi has been appointed Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques, an honour conferred by the French Minister of Higher Education and formally bestowed on January 13, 2026, by Professor Stéphane Braconnier, President of Paris-Panthéon-Assas University.

During the ceremony, President Braconnier highlighted Professor Laazouzi’s outstanding contribution to legal education, particularly through the creation of the LL.M. AWArDS (Assas World Arbitration and Dispute Settlement). This flagship programme has quickly gained international recognition and is now a reference in the field of international arbitration.

Special mention was made of Professor Laazouzi’s pivotal role as Head of Relations with U.S. Law Schools, where he successfully negotiated numerous student exchange agreements with leading American institutions. These partnerships, established in chronological order, include Duke University, George Washington University, the University of Virginia, Notre Dame Law School, Boston University School of Law, Tulane Law School, Ohio State University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Since its launch in 2019, the LL.M. AWArDS programme has welcomed students from these partner universities, as well as from dozens of countries worldwide, seeking highly specialised training in international arbitration. Its success is largely attributed to the exceptional quality of its teaching faculty, composed of distinguished university professors and leading practitioners actively engaged in the field.

This distinction is particularly noteworthy given that President Braconnier himself drives several of Assas International’s flagship programmes, including those established at the Mauritius and Singapore campuses.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Professor Malik Laazouzi on this well-deserved honour, recognising his dedication to advancing legal education and fostering international academic collaboration.
