INVITATION: ‘La Journée du Droit 2024’

Join Paris-Panthéon-Assas University on the 3rd October 2024 at l’Institut Français de Maurice for the second edition of “La Journée du Droit,” exploring the legal challenges brought by artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.

This event, launched for the first time in 2023 by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is part of an initiative to promote law and its values worldwide. It particularly aims to raise public awareness of essential legal issues such as human rights, the fight against impunity, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

For this second edition, the main theme resonates with a key issue of our time: Artificial Intelligence (AI). How can the law adapt to rapid technological advancements? What revolutions and evolutions do these technologies impose on our current legal frameworks?

Programme

From 4:30 pm – Screening
The documentary « L’intelligence artificielle et le monde des médias », produced by Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), explores how AI is transforming the media sector, from content production to information management. The screening will be followed by a discussion with an AI specialist.

From 6:00 pm – Conference
« Les technologies numériques et l’intelligence artificielle : vers une révolution du droit ? »
The debate will focus on the disruptions that digital technologies, and particularly AI, impose on modern law. The notion of “revolution” will be contrasted with that of “evolution,” addressing crucial topics such as the boundaries of these technologies and their interaction with justice.

Speakers: Louis Eric Ribot, Marius Schneider, Nora Ho Tu Nam, Aneessa Mungroo
Moderators: Luvishka Biltoo and Sabir Kadel

This event is organised in partnership with Paris-Panthéon-Assas University and the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies of Mauritius (IJLS), with the support of the France Alumni Mauritius network.
