Paris-Campus – LL.M. International Business Law Students Visit the French Senate
At the invitation of Mr. Loïc Hervé, Senator of Haute-Savoie and Vice-President of the French Senate, the LL.M. International Business Law students from the University Paris Panthéon-Assas had the opportunity to step through the doors of the Senate on December 10, 2025.
Mr. Jean Pouch, adviser to the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee, allowed the students to discover the Palais du Luxembourg, the second chamber of Parliament since 1799. The students were able to admire the conference room, a true jewel of the Second Empire, where one can see Napoleon’s throne or a copy of the Constitution establishing the Fifth Republic.
The students’ eyes sparkled as much as the gold adorning the rooms of the Palais. Mr. Pouch traced the history of the upper chamber of Parliament and explained to the students the mechanism of passing a law in France. The students had the chance to sit in the hemicycle where the 348 senators who make up the Senate usually sit.
An immersion into the French legislative power!
