Mauritius Rotaract Club Launched at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University

Paris-Panthéon-Assas University is thrilled to announce the chartering of the Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas Mauritius Rotaract Club, a student-led initiative. The club was officially chartered at a ceremony held at the Ravenala Attitude Hotel on Saturday, 28th September, marking a significant milestone for both the university and its student body.

The club operates in Zone 22, District 9220, and aims to foster stronger connections between the university, other Mauritian universities, and the local community. The club president, Fulena, shares her vision: “We felt somewhat disconnected from the activities of other universities that had established Rotaract clubs. Our aim in creating this club is to bridge that gap and contribute meaningfully to the community.”

With 37 members, the club’s executive team is led by President Fulena Heleena, Vice-President Hassnein Pengwah, Secretary Rindra Adrianjafy, Treasurer Eloven Cheiman, Vice-Treasurer Yashveer Bunghoo, Vice-Secretary Alyssa Biaka, and Sergeant at Arms Darshika Mohadeb. The executive members spearheaded the chartering event, though only 11 of the members were able to attend the official ceremony.

Reflecting on the club’s goals, Fulena highlighted her prior experience as an Interactor in high school, where she engaged in various Rotarian-led initiatives, such as post-Wakashio oil spill clean-up campaigns. “Being chartered is like obtaining a driving license—it gives us the formal right to operate the club. We are now in a position to collaborate with other Rotaract clubs and contribute to important community projects.”

The newly chartered club will focus on community service initiatives, both environmental and social, following the footsteps of global Rotaract clubs in promoting civic engagement and leadership among young people.
